Reports suggest Bezos has held discussions about joining a consortium led by British businessman and former Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia, which is seeking to acquire a minority stake in Liverpool FC from current owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG).

According to reports, the consortium is seeking to acquire up to a 30% stake in Liverpool FC in a deal valued at around £1.35 billion (approximately $1.8 billion). If completed, the investment would value the Premier League club at around £4.5 billion (approximately $6 billion). Fenway Sports Group has confirmed that discussions regarding outside investment are taking place, although there is currently no indication that the company intends to sell control of the club.

Liverpool has established itself as one of the world's leading football clubs, with a global fanbase, historic success and a strong commercial presence. Since acquiring Liverpool in 2010, Fenway Sports Group has transformed the club both on and off the pitch. Under FSG, Liverpool has won major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League, while also expanding its international reach and commercial operations. Those achievements have helped strengthen the club's position as one of the biggest brands in world football.

The growing value of football clubs has attracted interest from wealthy investors around the world. Premier League teams in particular have become attractive because of their global audiences, valuable broadcasting deals, sponsorship opportunities and potential for expansion into new markets.

Unlike traditional businesses, major football clubs combine sporting success with powerful international brands, giving investors access to millions of fans worldwide. This has led to increasing involvement from billionaires, investment groups and major companies seeking a stake in the sport.

Anfield has been Liverpool FC’s home since 1892 and remains one of football’s most recognisable stadiums.

Although best known as the founder of Amazon, Bezos has continued expanding his business interests in recent years. He owns aerospace company Blue Origin and The Washington Post, while also investing in sectors including healthcare, artificial intelligence and logistics. Blue Origin has become one of the leading companies in the private space industry, while Bezos' wider investments have made him one of the most influential figures in global business. A move into European football would represent a new area of investment for Bezos, who has never owned a major football club.

The reported discussions remain at an early stage, and there is no guarantee that an agreement will be reached. However, the potential investment has already attracted attention from football fans and business leaders, showing the increasing appeal of elite football clubs to some of the world's wealthiest investors. If completed, the deal would become one of the most high-profile investments involving a Premier League club in recent years.
